Cuba's health system is considered unique in Latin America, covering the whole country. Medical services are free for all Cubans.
Cuba has the lowest children mortality rate in Latin America and one of the lowest of the world: 7,9 per each born alive. Cuban life expectancy is of 75,2 years of age.
In Cuba, there are 42 634 physicians (1 x each 274 inhabitants); 7 515 dentists (1 x each 524 inhabitants); 120 000 nurses, technicians and auxiliaries; 15 142 doctors of the family assist the 67,6 % of the population. In addition to the 421 polyclinics and the 267 hospitals that offer their services.
